How does MIO™ identify patients?

July 6th, 2009 by olopez

One of the main problems to obtain successful image integration is the correct identification of the patient. Medical images must be correctly identified so that they have real clinical relevance. This identification is done via the incorporation of data such as patient first and last names, clinical record number, healthcare card number, etc.
MIO™ can obtain the patient’s identification data in different ways:

- Retrieving a worklist for the modality (DICOM Worklist Retrieve).
- Receiving the data through an http call from the HIS
- Receiving the data through a transfer of parameters from the HIS
- Obtaining them from an identifying file
- Through manual entry

Once MIO™ has the patient’s identification data, these will be entered in the different DICOM tags of the image, permitting its correct storage and posterior retrieval.
